This unique, Grade II listed property was the Former Canal Weights & Measures Office at the Canal Basin. The Brecknock and Abergavenny Canal, built from 1793, reached Brecon in 1800 and so the building may date from then, but is known to have been in existence by 1834. It is a two storey tower-like building with a pyramidal slate roof. On the ground floor there is a store room with flagstone floor. A set of external stairs takes you up to the first floor which has an exposed wooden floor, remains of a brick fireplace and windows which overlook the canal. Outside there is an enclosed courtyard which is accessed from the canal footpath. The property would make a delightful studio or office otherwise other uses would need to appropriate planning permissions. Mains electricity is connected.

Situated overlooking the Brecon & Monmouthshire Canal Basin opposite the Theatre and within walking distance of the town centre. Brecon is a traditional market town, the centre of the Brecon Beacons National Park. It has a wide range of shops and amenities which include a cinema, theatre, leisure centre, library and golf course. It also has several good primary schools, a secondary school, college of further education and Christ College a private boarding school for boys and girls aged 7-18. With good access links Cardiff, Swansea and Hereford are all an hour’s drive and the nearest train station is in Abergavenny which is 20 miles away.
